His hand reaches out
To feel that drop of water
Yet his fingers are thwarted

By a veil of glass
Outside which
That drop glides like

A memory of her

She, his gift from heaven,
Always within reach,
Never to be claimed

Keeper Of The Pledge

He once gave her a rose
and promised eternal love.

She now keeps
the brittle flower
in a book with care

Lest his promise
crumble apart.
