Downpour

Let the odd drop bounce off your shoulder,
As I watch one leap off mine.
Wince a little as the spray hits us,
Walk with me under this pleasant confine.

Black is the color that covers us so,
A well-lit dream under a dark shroud.
A pleasant accident as your shoulder brushes me,
A smiling afternoon under a dark cloud.

@Everyone: Thanks for the words of appreciation.

@RTD2: Didn't know my commentary was sought after too :-) Scroll down for my other responses to capture the essence

@Niranjan: You nailed it. The rhyme was the key, because I had stopped writing a lot of rhyming poetry. That was the specific structure I was aiming for in this work.

@TTG: Not Seattle. Mumbai. Out and Out. And sweet and happy memories of the rains .. ;-)

Creates a happy picture for me...why the title "downpour" ?

Parth said...

@RS: Downpour refers to a sudden and intense outbreak of rain forcing people to converge under umbrellas looking for shelter. Common feature in Mumbai Monsoon Madness
